Welcome
to my website. I am very excited to share my story of how I became an
artist. I hold a deep passion and dedication to the field of Fine
Arts.
I grew up
in Michigan, the second youngest of seven children. My family were
athletes so my creative abilities didn’t blossom until my own
family of five children were grown and I had fiercely fought cancer
and became a survivor.
A life
threatening illness can bring so much out of a person. As we gain
back our self-worth, hopefully we have the strength to find a missing
part of our lives. That part for me was my creativity.
Good
fortune guided me to study photography in San Francisco. I began
discovering what I had been missing.
Under the
watchful eye of John Weir, Robert Barry, and Timo, my passion for
expressing myself through Fine Arts Photography became a reality.
My
photography has been shown in Portland Oregon, San Francisco CA, and
San Diego CA.
Through
the lens I see strong and powerful images. They are mainly abstracts
that allow the viewer to feel what they see with no right or wrong
judgments.
When the
digital age became part of our lives, I immersed myself in painting.
I express
myself in free and unstructured mediums. I use Alcohol Inks and
Acrylic, many times combining the two.
I had the
good fortune to get to know a fantastic artist from Australia, Graeme
Stevenson. He came to San Diego to film me in my studio. I had been
painting with Alcohol Inks for 5-6 years at that time.
I was
amazed how new the medium was to so many viewers and how fascinated
they became seeing me work moving the ink around on non-porous
substrate. Alcohol Ink is amazing with it's deep saturated hues. It
is quick to dry and it has a mind of it's own so the artist my move
and think very spontaneously.
It is my
hope that we can connect either in your desire to hang my art in your
life or to help explain the process I go through with Alcohol Ink or
Acrylics.
Thank
you for allowing me into your life today. If you're interested in Alcohol Inks, you can go to YouTube and search for peggystokes(Colour
